Advocacy for Tennis in Montana

Montana is a big, rural state with a smaller population, comparatively.

Tennis is growing fast here – which means every court, every program, and every advocate’s voice can have a big impact.

What is advocacy?

Across Montana, the need is specific and growing: repairing aging courts, expanding access, and making sure new facilities keep pace with the players showing up to use them.
Finding the people and organizations in your community who can move tennis forward is the best place to start. It’s rarely just about tennis – it’s about using tennis to solve problems people care about: youth development, public health, and quality of life in areas across Montana.

Building public support and awareness for tennis helps protect the sport we love and provides pathways for us to advance forward.

Big Sky… Bigger Growth

Tennis in Montana is on a genuine upswing. League participation has grown, double where we were in 2024. Tournament’s have had record breaking participation numbers. Montana is outpacing many other USTA districts in the country – a real signal that more Montanans are picking up a racquet, not just that a few programs are having a good season.

That growth is happening in a state where courts are often old, spread across large distances, and subject to short spring and summer seasons and long harsh winters. Montana doesn’t have the population density to absorb rapid growth quietly – every new player picking up a racket is a visible, local story, in Missoula, Bozeman, Billings, Great Falls, Helena, and every one of Montana’s towns in between.
